Lameez Carolus

Principal (Primary School)


Lameez has completed her diploma in Montessori education and her Bachelor of Education. She has two children of her own and is passionate about children and how she can help them on their path to independence. Lameez is captivated by the mind and possibilities of the young child. She believes that the role of a teacher is to offer guidance, love, support and a safe environment. She is proud that her first experience in a school is at Seren house, first as an assistant and then a teacher before being appointed as Principal. She cannot imagine any other environment more beneficial for a child.

Dr Eirwen Oswald

Dr Eirwen Oswald has been teaching for the past 29 years. With experience in both Private and Government Schools, she has been involved in the academic life of pupils from Grade 0 to Post-matric. Her passion for the heart of the child is always the centre of her teaching and she strongly believes that content is far less important than skills. It is this belief that has resulted in outstanding results from all of her pupils. She has Doctorate in English Literature and Philosophy and completed many courses in the teaching of children who are struggling, the most recent one through the University of London. She is passionate about reading and knows that this is the key to success in life. She has co-written curricula for many years and her experience in best teaching practice is endless. As a mother, she has seen how much more children need from schooling and so the idea of Seren House was born where together with the other directors of the school, she works tirelessly to ensure that a star is born in each and every child who walks into her class.

Lyle Pretorius

Principal (High School)


Lyle completed a Bachelor of Education degree from the North-West University, specialising in Natural Science and Languages. Before pursuing his career in Education, he worked as a Wildlife conservationist in Limpopo, thereafter, he travelled overseas gaining teaching experience in Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and China. Lyle returned to his homeland South Africa to focus on education and the development of students. “Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten”- BF SKINNER

Annette Bayne

Head of Senior Phase


Annette's career path began with a stint in media and over the last 15 years she has been a motoring journalist, arts reviewer, freelancer and researcher. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism, Honours in English and a PGCE. She came to the classroom later in life, with two children of her own and a wealth of life experience. Annette currently focuses on the Intermediate Phase of primary school. Although she delights in teaching English, History and the arts, her recent experience has proved her both competent and energetic in teaching the Sciences and Technology. Annette strongly believes that every child deserves the opportunity to love school and learning and that play is the best teacher, regardless of age.

Chanel Ludek

Chanel completed her Bachelors in Humanities (Psychology, Philosophy & Ethics) Degree while studying at the North-West University. Her passion for understanding and developing young minds has led her to pursue a career in Education by completing her PGCE through UNISA and to also become an Independent Phono-Graphix Reading Therapist. Chanel has teaching experience in both public and private schools. She is a life-long learner and believes each child can succeed no matter their learning style. There is no such thing as failure, only learning experiences. Chanel’s motto in life is to collect the fun, silly and beautiful moments

Michael Jordaan

Michael Jordaan graduated with a Bachelors in Education at Varsity College in Sandton. He also has a TEFOL diploma. He has always wanted to teach and impact the next generation in a positive way. He has been tutoring learners from the ages of 7 all the way to way to matric for the past 4 years in all subjects. The subjects that he loves teaching and has a huge passion for is Mathematics and Business studies. He believes that the true teacher doesn’t just teach from the book but from the heart and the impact that the teacher can leave on a child will last forever.

After matriculating in 2017, Ciarra spent a few years in catering as well as logistics before becoming part of the Seren House team. She is driven to work well under pressure. A loving mom with a deep- rooted passion to work closely with children. Ciarra is excited to be part of the of the Seren House team and she is eager to get to know each learner.

Mino Lichaba holds an LLB from the University of South Africa and began her career in the legal field, gaining valuable experience before deciding to follow her true calling: working with children. Passionate about education, creativity, and community, Mino is now part of the team at Seren House, where she plays a dynamic role in managing social media and events. Her work goes beyond logistics—she’s committed to supporting teachers in nurturing and shaping the young minds of tomorrow. With a unique blend of professional discipline and heartfelt purpose, Mino brings warmth, insight, and energy to every part of her role.

Sonja Bainbridge

Sonja spent many years in sales in the printing industry before joining her childrens’ school in the administration department. She made it her goal to know every child by name – more than a 1000 over the years – and found her calling in education. Once her children had left school, Sonja spent a few years at another private school before joining Seren House in April 2019. Her love for children and the efficient day to day running of the school is evident in everything Sonja does.

Haseena Vally

Haseena graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand and obtained a bachelor's degree in education specialising in Mathematics and EMS. She has a passion for working with and teaching children and has a compassionate nature that cannot turn away those who need her help. This is why she chose to become a teacher. She aspires to teach learners valuable life lessons through her given subjects that they can use later on in life. She is energetic, ambitious and dedicated to being an advocate for every learners' success. Her main goal as a teacher is to make her classroom a space for growth, collaboration and inclusion. Her friendly and nurturing nature will most certainly go a long way with our learners. Haseena is excited to be joining the Seren House family.

Anita Hewitt

Anita has 20 years of teaching experience, which includes teaching Cambridge Physics & Biology at A-Level and Physical Sciences and Life Sciences at a Grade 12 level in the IEB schooling system. She holds a B Sc Hons and a PGCE from the University of Port Elizabeth and remains curious about new scientific discoveries. She and her husband are parents to three boys who love science too. Anita is passionate about working with teenagers, helping them to discover their unique identities, develop their intellect, and grow in character. She worked for a short while as an Analytical Chemist but missed teaching too much and now prefers to conduct her science experiments in the classroom.

Thembela Dube

Thembela holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Johannesburg majoring in ICT and English. Thembela believes that the sky is not the limit since there are footprints on the moon. Every child has unique skills and abilities that should be supported and guided. Thembela is passionate about the use of ICTs and believes that children should be prepared to solve problems in the digital world.

Tara Bodhania

Tara Bodhania holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and her decade of tutoring experience fueled her passion for teaching. Tara has spent the last three years teaching grade 8 to 12 Accounting and EMS. Her background in accounting and business enables her to teach these subjects practically, ensuring learners grasp real-world applications. Tara believes in addressing each child's unique needs, tailoring her approach to help all students benefit and thrive. She emphasizes equipping students with tools for independent learning and fostering critical thinking in an engaging manner. Tara believes that teaching is not just a job; it's a passion for shaping young minds and a love for nurturing each child's unique potential.

Natasha Le Roux

Natasha has completed a Bachelor of Education degree specialising in Foundation phase and has completed certain modules for Intermediate phase. She is bilingual in English and Afrikaans. Natasha has had experience with children of all ages as she has worked as a teacher at a Montessori school, as a private Afrikaans tutor and as an aftercare teacher. Making a difference in children’s lives and assisting them in reaching their full potential is Natasha’s passion. Natasha is a creative individual and this is evident as she has participated in drama, choir, visual arts and poetry.

Jonel Stark

After completing her Drama and Theater Arts Degree at the University of the Free State, Jonel pursued a qualification and career in education, with specialisation in English and Drama. Her teaching experience ranges from teaching at South African private schools to teaching Drama and Performing Arts in the United Kingdom. She has also been involved in various drama productions, both as part of the behind-the-scenes team, as well as on stage. Ultimately, she believes that her experience in theatre, combined with a passion for languages and literature, has equipped her with a unique view of how teaching can be interesting yet impactful to suit learners and their needs.

Cebo Cele

After Matriculating in 2014 Cebo spent a year in the field working as basketball coach as well as working for the department of Education. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Psychology as well as his PGCE from the University of the Witwatersrand. During his tenures in high school and university Mr. Cele took on an array of extra murals such as drama, basketball, soccer, rugby, choral ensemble and Combat Tang Soo Do (Korean Martial art), which taught him about the importance of practicing discipline in all things we wish to excel at, be it a passion, hobby, or duty. He believes that through teaching he can pass on this trait to future generations. He also believes in a classroom being learner centered as it helps learners become stronger problem solvers and critical thinkers.

Motsamai Nonyane

Motsamai completed a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of South Africa, specialising in Mathematics and Physical Sciences. For the duration of his studies, Motsamai worked as an intern teacher and a tutor in private and public schools. Upon finishing his studies, he taught Mathematics to students in Grades 8 to 12 for a period of six years. During this time he not only shared his passion for the subject but also played a significant role in mentoring and developing future educators. His greatest joy in the classroom comes from seeing students gain confidence in their mathematical abilities.

Swannie Swanevelder

Swannie studied Theology at the University of Pretoria and completed his Masters at UNISA. With a rich background in teaching, counseling, and the performing arts, Swannie brings a creative and dynamic approach to education. Swannie specializes in Afrikaans HL and FAL, Life Orientation, and Dramatic Arts. With extensive experience from teaching at various schools Swannie tries to make complex information accessible and engaging. He has a passion for youth development and education. “All children in some form or another have genius; the trick is to bring it out in them” – Charlie Chaplin.

Lindi Gamaroff

Lindi’s interests and natural talent lies in the arts and after matriculation completed a three years arts diploma, majoring in Sculpture and Painting. She met my husband in 2000 and subsequently began her family, it seemed a natural progression to do a PGCE through Unisa . Lindi loves and employs the Reggio Amelia schooling methods and attended the Reggio Amelia conferences in 2013 and 2017 . She is a qualified & intuitive Atelierista and worked for 5 years as one. Lindi has a deep belief in the potential of a young child, in their purity of thought and word, recognising that each individual has their own path and guiding them in the direction they choose. She employs a balance of tradition schooling with elements of creativity, play, song and stories, that way the learning is automatic and natural.

Larishka Chinasamy

Larishka Chinasamy graduated from Varsity College in Sandton with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She enjoys teaching the subjects Natural Sciences and English. She's always up for a good challenge and very passionate about teaching and working with the learners. She stands by the quote "Education is a ticket to the future and those that prepare for it today will own it in the future". Larishka is very excited to be part of the Seren House team and to get to know all the children.

Chelane Freudiger

Chelane is a dedicated educator with a strong background in finance, having earned a BCom in Finance and worked as an accountant for eight years. Her passion for numbers and problem-solving led her to transition into education, where she completed a PGCE and began teaching in 2020. Drawing on her real-world experience in finance, she brings practical knowledge and a deep understanding of mathematics and financial principles to the classroom. This background allows her to make learning relevant and engaging for students, helping them connect abstract concepts to everyday applications.In addition to her love for numbers, Chelane is an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoys incorporating elements of teamwork and discipline, often drawing parallels between sports and academic success.

Rosa Manhice

Rosa, a University of Johannesburg graduate, holds a Bachelor's degree in Senior Phase and FET teaching, specializing in Geography and Physical Sciences. With extensive experience in both public and private schools, Rosa expertly navigates diverse classrooms, fostering inclusive learning environments. Her teaching philosophy, rooted in constructivism, emphasizes active learning through engagement and reflection. Rosa employs innovative strategies like inquiry-based learning, debates, and gamification to motivate students. She leverages technology, such as Google Earth, Augmented Reality, and simulations, to make complex concepts accessible and interactive. Driven by a passion for teaching and learning, Rosa inspires critical thinking, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in her students.

Nontobeko Sihlali

Nontobeko Sihlali graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, followed by an Honours degree in Statistics. She then completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for the senior and FET phases, majoring in Mathematics. She is passionate about teaching all children and is committed to becoming an inclusive educator. To enhance her skills, she completed a short course in teaching learners with autism. Her goal is to create a classroom environment that fosters learning by employing a variety of effective teaching strategies. She strives to inspire confidence and trust in her students. While she is results-oriented and want all her students to succeed, she believes it is essential for each learner to develop according to their individual abilities and skill levels. She also prioritizes allowing her students to grow as individuals while being part of a cohesive team. She is excited to join the Seren House family and looks forward to meeting all the students and staff.

Kiara Eagar

After matriculating in 2013, Kiara obtained a Bachelor of Social Science specialising in Psychology and Child and Youth Development. She also holds a TEFL Certificate, and upon deciding that teaching is where she hopes to make the best impact, obtained a PGCE. Outside of studying she has worked as an Au pair and at times volunteered at special needs schools and stimulation centres. She has always wanted to work with children, especially those who may need an extra helping hand. “What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning.” – Chuck Grassley

After being involved in and running a community education program in high school, Saskia decided in matric that teaching was her calling. She went on to pursue an education degree at Varisty College, this is where she gained experience in traditional classrooms as well as assisted learning classrooms. Saskia is a caring, kind, dedicated and passionate teacher and learner focused on creating a positive environment in which young learners can feel supported and comfortable to be able to learn and grow. Saskia prides herself on integrating holistic and interdisciplinary knowledge into the classroom to engage students of all learning orientations.

Chad Oswald-Gräter is currently reading for his Bachelor of Education focusing on Intermediate Phase children. He successfully completed a Higher Certificate in Exercise Science and qualified as a personal trainer in order to further his passion for fitness. This passion extends into helping others to achieve their goals and be their best personal selves in and outside of the classroom. Chad believes that to achieve a positive mental and emotional state you need to start with a strong physical state.

Denver Lawson

Denver Lawson is a dedicated Foundation Phase educator with a calm, child-centred approach to teaching, strengthened by experience in both classroom support and sports coaching. With a Bachelor of Education from Stadio and practical exposure across several respected schools, he is committed to building confidence, strengthening foundational skills, and creating nurturing learning spaces. Denver is especially passionate about working with young children in South Africa, where so many lack access to high-quality early education, and he is driven to make a meaningful difference in many children’s foundational years. He is also deeply supported and inspired by his wife, whom he loves dearly. As he begins his first teaching post at Seren House, he is excited to contribute to a school that reflects his values.
